Ultrasound Technologist Per Diem Days

About the Role

Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by physicians in diagnosis of disease and study of organ malfunction at Kindred Hospital Riverside, a 40-bed long-term acute care hospital. The facility offers an eight-bed ICU and one negative pressure room, providing in-depth care for extended recovery periods with 24-hour clinical care, seven days a week.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures by properly positioning patients and scanning specified body areas for physician or radiologist interpretation.
• Explains procedures to patients and/or family members to ensure cooperation, optimum test results, and reduce anxiety.
• Develops film using automatic processing equipment and assembles necessary patient information (e.g., history, past films/records) for radiologist/physician review.
• Prepares and cleans patient rooms by changing linens, stocking supplies, wiping off tables, and cleaning equipment to maintain an efficient and clean working environment.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as needle biopsies and renal biopsies by scanning patients, marking body areas, and determining puncture angles.
• Schedules patients as needed to ensure they receive adequate service.
• Maintains patient records by purging or updating film jackets and filing reports to ensure accuracy.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment through scheduled cleanings/tests and documents results; contacts service personnel for malfunctions.
• Performs other related duties as directed to support established goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively instruct patients and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers.
• Good and regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) graduate of an accredited Ultrasound or Radiologic Technology program (required).
• Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology (preferred).
• ARDMS or ARRT – Sonography or equivalent credential (RDMS or CCI) upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe (required).
• 1+ years of clinical experience in diagnostic ultrasound imaging (preferred).
• Prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting (preferred).

Pay

$32.02 - $39.81 per hour.
