Ultrasound Technologist-Per diem Days

About the role

Facility: Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina. Department: CFV Outpatient Imaging. Job Family: Allied Health. Work Shift: Days (United States of America). Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist is fully competent to perform all diagnostic procedures for the diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions.

Responsibilities

• Competent in the technical operations of all equipment in this section
• Assess patients, review orders/chart as appropriate confirming reason for exam
• Ensure pertinent patient symptoms and clinical history are documented and a signed consent form is present if needed
• Prepare patients for procedure, answer any questions and effectively communicate with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol
• Responsible for prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist
• Provide safe environment to include infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals
• Monitor the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement
• Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation
• Participate in the clinical education of student sonographers
• Participate in department’s Performance Improvement Projects
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; Graduate of AMA approved Sonography program required; ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred; New graduates who are registry eligible must be registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of hire date required; Current AHA CPR certification required.

Work Experience: 1 year experience preferred.

• Required Licenses and Certifications: ARDMS - American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography, ARRT - American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists
