Ultrasound Technologist I: Irvine Breast Care and Imaging Center

Responsibilities

• Perform level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director.
• Utilize independent judgment and required knowledge to obtain high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
• Evaluate the technical quality of images obtained prior to submitting to interpreting radiologist.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and report any changes in patient status, including initiating emergency response if required.
• Accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems.
• Hospital-based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital-adjacent imaging center locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher.
• Graduate of an ARDMS-approved ultrasound program.
• Minimum one year of experience preferred but new graduates will be considered.
• Hospital/Outpatient Imaging locations only: Experience may be considered in lieu of education if licensure and certification requirements are met.
• Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved program (exception for programs completed prior to 1994).
• Cardiology department only: Experience with adult, neonate, and pediatric cardiac ultrasound, as well as stress echocardiograms, TEEs, and Intra-Operative TEE preferred.

Qualifications

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support).
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties.
• Non-Invasive Vascular Lab: ARDMS - RVT registered, or registry eligible (to be completed within the first year of employment).

Certifications Preferred

• Advanced credential in vascular imaging (RVT).
