Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients across the lifespan.
- Select appropriate equipment to use for the procedure.
- Determine the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shield patients accordingly.
- Able to assess patient's pain by interfering with imaging procedure — make appropriate physician/nurse contact for intervention.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Selects proper protocols for a variety of examinations for patient safety and reduced exposure.
- Sends images to the PACS system and completes study within the EMR system.
- PRACTICES GOOD MEDICAL AND SURGICAL ASEPTIC TECHNIQUES.
- Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
- Interacts professionally with the patient/family.
- Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
- KNOWLEDGEABLE OF FIRE AND SAFETY REGULATIONS.
- KNOWLEDGE OF HOSPITAL POLICIES AND THE FUNCTIONS OF THE RADILOGY DEPARTMENT AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS.
- PROVIDES CARE APPROPRIATE TO THE CONDITION AND AGE OF THE PATIENT, INCLUDING PEDIATRIC, GERIATRIC AND GENERAL POPULATION.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an Allied Health Program or an approved Ultrasound Program.
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), preferred.
- Licensed by the State of Wyoming is not required for an ultrasound.
- BLS certification required.
- Central Registry, required.
- Works independently. No mentoring needed.
- 1 year of Ultrasound experience.
Additional Skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology.
