Ultrasound Technologist
About the Role
We are seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Rapides Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare. This role involves performing all Ultrasound and Vascular procedures with proficiency, maintaining high-quality imaging standards, and providing compassionate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform all common Ultrasound/Vascular imaging procedures without assistance.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of positioning techniques, technical factors, and anatomical factors to obtain quality images.
- Assist radiologists and other physicians as necessary.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all staff members and demonstrate flexibility in work schedule (e.g., alternate shifts, call rotation).
- Work independently with minimal supervision while completing assigned tasks, duties, and responsibilities.
- Observe universal precautions and adhere to health and safety rules of the department and Medical Center.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and improve patient care.
- Communicate positively and compassionately with all age groups, assessing and managing patient pain effectively.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and Imaging QA requirements (error rate <1%).
- Ensure prompt, timely service to all outpatients and monitor Patient Tracker to prevent excessive wait times.
- Maintain a clean environment, sanitizing equipment between each patient contact.
- Wear name badge consistently while at work (<1% non-compliance).
- Take call according to schedule and complete all work before clocking out.
- Proficiently use Medi-Tech Radiology Information System, current U/S systems, and related equipment.
- Know the location and use of MSDS, Emergency Response Manual, Crash Cart, O2 shut-off, fire extinguishers, and exits.
- Competently use PACS and assist in training students and ancillary personnel as required.
- Interact professionally with patients and families, adhering to local fire and safety regulations.
- Understand hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
- Compile and maintain quality assurance data as appropriate.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general populations.
- Review exams for technical accuracy and present them to interpreting physicians concisely and professionally.
- Communicate pertinent data to ordering providers, nurses, or other caregivers as appropriate.
- Perform exams with accuracy and efficiency in various work conditions.
- Flex work schedules as needed to meet departmental needs.
- Provide compassionate care to all patients and work effectively as part of a team.
Requirements
- High School Graduate / GED.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or CPR for Healthcare Providers (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
- Diagnostic Medical Sonographer certification or Registered Vascular Technician (RVT).
