This PRN Ultrasound Technologist role requires 12 shifts per quarter, including one winter holiday, one summer holiday, and one difficult-to-staff day. You must float to at least three HonorHealth locations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, by selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis and observing the patient during the procedure to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Transports patients to and from the exam room/table, prepares and maintains the room.
  • Acquires digital images and evaluates them for technical quality.
  • Assists physicians in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications.
  • Assists in coordination of daily workflow for the department’s activities.
  • Maintains equipment in efficient operating order, performs and documents all required quality control testing, and contacts service for repair and maintenance as directed.
  • Rotates throughout the department as staffing and volume dictate.
  • Participates in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff, as needed.
  • Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe environment for patients and staff in the assigned area, including stock and inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduation from an accredited program for diagnostic medical sonography preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • 6 months of clinical ultrasound experience (inclusive of education) required.

Qualifications

  • Sonography Principles & Instrumentation – Certificate (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) eligible, including passing the SPI exam (Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Exam) or ARRT Sonography certification) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Current and valid certification at the time of hire required.
  • If ARRT-certified when hired, ARDMS SPI credential required within 180 days.
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) license or RVT credential, including passing one of the following exams: Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, or Vascular Technology required within 1 year (or 18 months if hired with ARRT).
  • Two or more ARDMS specialty credentials preferred.
