Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Supervisory Job Responsibilities – Accountability for Money, Equipment, Material, Patient Care and Safety
- Managing individuals including but not limited to hiring, onboarding, training, work assignments, competency oversight, and professional development plans.
- Ensures that the productivity and actions of the team meet and support the overall operation goals of the service line as established by department leadership.
- Serve as the first-line contact for ultrasound staff absences and initial performance concerns, escalating issues to the Director of Radiology as appropriate.
- Provide input to the Director of Radiology for annual performance reviews of ultrasound staff.
- Oversee daily ultrasound department operations, workflow, productivity, appointment utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Supervises the delivery of safe and appropriate ultrasound services according to established standards.
- Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure imaging protocols align with current clinical expectations.
- Maintain ACR accreditation.
- Promotes and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, and quality improvement plans and outcomes in the ultrasound department.
- Researches, evaluates, selects, and implements systems which improve the efficiency of the ultrasound department operations in collaboration with the Director of Radiology.
- Aids in the budget planning for the ultrasound department.
- Responsible for determining the equipment needs of the Ultrasound Department.
- Serve as the primary contact for ultrasound equipment vendors.
- Coordinate ultrasound equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and related follow-up.
- Responsible for assuring that all safety regulations are being followed, and precautions are being taken to comply with Infection Control Guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information assuring that patient rights are protected.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, and updating department protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to all GRH policies and procedures
Daily Tasks
- Performs ultrasound exams per department protocols and procedures.
- Assists radiologist or qualified provider with ultrasound guided biopsies/procedures.
- Completes necessary records and charges for each patient.
- Maintains equipment in proper working order according to safety and infection control specifications.
- Communicates problems with the Director of Radiology.
- Responsible for ordering supplies for the ultrasound department.
- Oversees ultrasound students during clinical rotations at GRH and shadow students during observation hours.
- Maintaining quality assurance for ultrasound equipment and ultrasound department
Compliance, Risk & Safety Responsibilities
- Adherence to Healthcare Regulations: Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare laws, including HIPAA, CMS regulations, OSHA standards, and hospital-specific protocols.
- Identification, evaluation, and escalation of potential compliance risks, to appropriate individuals (e.g. Compliance Officer, Risk Management, HR).
- Adhere to Safety Standards and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Proactively identify hazards and recognize and report unsafe conditions, equipment, or practices to supervisors promptly.
- Document and report any accidents, injuries or near misses.
