About the role
The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients.
Responsibilities
- Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis.
- Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
- Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
- Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed.
- Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.
- Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what image is captured.
- Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room.
- Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
- Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
- Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Follows RHS policies and procedures. Reports variances.
Qualifications
- Experience: Ultrasound experience (Preferred)
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- RDMS(OB, AB, Breast, or NIV) - Upon Hire
- Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography (S) - Upon Hire
- Certified Cardiac Sonographer (CCI) CCI (RCS, RCIS, or RVS) - Upon Hire
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RVT or RDCS - Upon Hire
- Other Requirements: Call Rotation, Weekend Shifts
