About the role

The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients.

Responsibilities

• Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis.
• Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
• Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
• Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed.
• Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.
• Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what image is captured.
• Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.
• Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
• Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
• Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Follows RHS policies and procedures. Reports variances.

Qualifications

• Experience: Ultrasound experience (Preferred)
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • RDMS(OB, AB, Breast, or NIV) - Upon Hire
  • Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography (S) - Upon Hire
  • Certified Cardiac Sonographer (CCI) CCI (RCS, RCIS, or RVS) - Upon Hire
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RVT or RDCS - Upon Hire
• Other Requirements: Call Rotation, Weekend Shifts
