About the role
Under the direction of a qualified physician, the ultra-sonographer will perform a variety of technical procedures to patients for diagnostic purposes. Ultra-sonographers must have the ability to perform all technical procedures required for the ultrasonic assessment of patients without direct supervision. Ultra-sonographers must exercise a high degree of technical competence, accuracy and judgement.
Responsibilities
- Perform Pelvic Floor Ultrasound (PFUS) examinations including Perineal PFUS, Introital PFUS, Endovaginal ultrasound (EVUS) and Endoanal ultrasound (EAUS).
- Perform a 2-dimensional (2D), 3-dimensional (3D) or 4-dimensional (4D) assessment of the pelvic floor, based on the medical indication.
- Perform standard Gynecology ultrasound.
- Recognize normal and abnormal ultrasound findings.
- Explain procedures to patients and report findings to physicians.
- Record all pertinent patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and generate an ultrasound report.
- Documentation should be completed efficiently and thoroughly for all patients seen. Same day documentation is the best policy.
Requirements
- Associate degree or successful completion of a one to two year program in radiological technology or closely related field and successful completion of a one to two year program in medical sonography.
- Must be ARRT and/or ARDMS registered in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
- Must have 3 years experience in relevant or related field.
