About the role
The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients. The ultrasound technologist responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information.
Responsibilities
- Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis.
- Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
- Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
- Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed.
- Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.
- Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what image is captured.
- Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room.
- Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
- Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
- Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Follows RHS policies and procedures. Reports variances.
Qualifications
- Experience: Ultrasound experience (Preferred)
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RDMS (OB or AB) Upon Hire (Required)
- Radiologic Technologist - ARRT- The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Sonography (S) Upon Hire (Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required)

Pay
Hiring Range $36.50 - $50.23/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
