About the role
The State of Utah is seeking full-time Utah Highway Patrol Troopers. Ideal candidates should be ready to contribute to the safety and well-being of Utah's citizens.
Responsibilities
- Patrol highways to monitor traffic and deter crime
- Investigate crimes and accidents
- Provide assistance to those in need
- Prepare detailed reports for investigations and accidents
- Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment with care
- Attend regular training sessions to stay updated on best practices
Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- No maximum age
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- United States citizenship
- A non-US citizen with a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) card who has been in the US legally for at least five years and has legal authorization to work
- Pass the NPOST test with a 70% or above in each category and overall
- Eligible for a one-for-one salary credit for prior law enforcement experience
- Eligible for a $5,000 training reimbursement
- Eligible for a $2,500 hiring bonus for prior law enforcement experience
- Eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus upon POST graduation/certification
- Utah POST certification is required

Pay
Hourly wage range: $35.59 - $50.47
Physical Assessment Testing (PT)
Testing will be done between October 28, 2026 - November 6, 2026. Additional information will be sent via email.
Background Check and Drug Test
A comprehensive background investigation and drug test are required.
