UCC Maintenance Technician I - Housekeeping

About the role

The Housekeeping and Maintenance Technician performs comprehensive facility cleaning and minor technical maintenance to ensure optimal building operations.

Responsibilities

• Heavy custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, and deep-cleaning restrooms before, during, and after events.
• Manages inventory, safely operates specialized cleaning machinery, and oversees temporary staff for quality control.
• Supports event logistics by setting up convention spaces, cleaning commercial kitchen equipment, and operating facility systems like HVAC, lighting, and plumbing.
• Supports technical and security duties including troubleshooting network-connected IP devices (printers and phones), managing security and fire alarm systems, conducting facility lockdown checks, and assisting the public.
• Seasonal and outdoor responsibilities involve general landscaping, sprinkler maintenance, and operating an ATV for weed control.

Requirements

• Comfortable using ladders and working at heights.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexible, event-driven schedule that includes nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance and custodial fields.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills will also be considered.
• Available to respond to 24-hour emergency call-outs.
