As a Maintenance Technician I, you will play a vital role in preserving safe, welcoming environments where this mission comes to life every day.
Responsibilities
- Flexibility is required as staff are also scheduled to work indoors based on the needs of the convent. This is not a seasonal position. Winter (off-season) work will consist of indoor assignments.
General Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems
- Complete general building repairs and routine maintenance tasks
- Perform light plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work
- Paint and complete touch-up work as needed
- Assist with furniture moving, deliveries, trash removal, and event setups/breakdowns
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule
Groundskeeping
- Maintain exterior grounds including landscaping, mowing, and snow removal
- Keep outdoor areas clean, safe, and well maintained
- Safely operate landscaping and maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, plows, and hand tools
Safety
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and OSHA-related standards
- Properly use PPE and maintain safe equipment operation
- Report hazardous conditions or unsafe equipment promptly
- Maintain clean and organized work areas at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of prior landscape maintenance experience
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and groundskeeping tasks
- Experience operating landscaping and maintenance equipment safely
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call coverage
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Experience safely using gas-powered and electric tools such as chainsaws, trimmers, brush cutters, and related equipment
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and PPE standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare, nonprofit, or religious organizations
- Familiarity with the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy
Pay
$21.25 – $29.00/hour
