About the role
UAA Residence Life is seeking Resident Services Assistants (RSAs) to serve as the first point of contact for residential students, community members, and all conference guests. RSAs engage students, build community, help solve problems, and provide information about services available to members and visitors of the residential community and their guests through Residence Life and Campus Services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for residential students, community members, and all conference guests.
- Engage students, build community, help solve problems, and provide information about services available to members and visitors of the residential community and their guests.
- Lead residential campus tours, as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service and have advanced professional communication skills.
- Serve as Campus Security Authorities in compliance with federal law, specifically the Clery Act, and serve as Responsible Employees as designated in Regents’ Policy and University Regulation and in compliance with federal law, specifically Title IX.
- Serve as Authorized Adults working with minors and complete relevant training, background checks, and reference checks.
Requirements
- Candidates must be enrolled in the University of Alaska system in a degree-program with a minimum of six (6) credit hours for undergraduate students during regular semesters of employment; or be admitted in a degree-seeking program and demonstrate plans to enroll for six (6) or more credit hours for undergraduate students in the next regular semester.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.25; satisfactory semester or summer session grade point average (2.25 or above) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services Officer or their designee.
- Maintain successful academic progress.
- Be in good disciplinary standing at the time of appointment and must remain in good disciplinary standing throughout the duration of employment.
- Position reappointment from fall to spring semesters is contingent upon academic eligibility, successful progress toward degree completion, submission of a satisfactory ePortfolio, performance evaluation, and conduct standing.
Qualifications
- Good understanding of Regents' Policy and University Regulation, the Student Code of Conduct, and the Community Living Standards and Alcohol and Drug policies.
- Ability to speak up comfortably and from a place of care.
- Willingness and ability to confront and report violations of established policies by submitting information reports and notifying professional staff members according to departmental standards.

Schedule
- Resident Services Assistant positions are open to undergraduate students only.
- Positions are located on the UA campus in Anchorage, Alaska.
