About the role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Florida International University invites applications for two open-rank teaching positions which will be based primarily at the Modesto Maidique Campus. These are 12-month, non-tenure track positions starting August 2026.

Job Information

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of first year and introductory mathematics courses, including those for non-science majors, using evidence-based instructional practices. Teaching assignments may include teaching hybrid or fully online courses.

  • Teaching four courses (12 credits) each in Fall and Spring semesters
  • Three courses (9 credits) during the Summer semester

Job responsibilities are teaching and service.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Masters degree plus 4-6 teaching experience; degree and experience must be in Mathematics or a closely related discipline
  • A minimum of 18 graduate credits in Mathematics is required to be certified to teach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or training in using evidence-based active learning-focused classroom practices
  • Demonstrated experience in first-year mathematics courses at the university level.
