Instructor or Open Rank Teaching Professor of Mathematics and Statistics
Position Specifics
Penn State Altoona invites applications for a combined teaching and tutoring position in Mathematics or Statistics. This position is a 12-month, 36-week, non-tenure track appointment for fall and spring semesters beginning Fall 2026. The initial appointments are for one year with a possibility of continuance.
Qualifications and Teaching Responsibilities
The position is a full-time, Non-Tenure-Line Instructor or Open Rank Teaching Professor position in mathematics or statistics that is half teaching and half tutoring in our campus Student Success Center. Candidates must possess a minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. in either Mathematics or Statistics or a B.S./B.A. in either Mathematics or Statistics and an M.S. or Ph.D. in a closely related discipline. Qualified candidates in all areas of mathematics and statistics will be considered.
Other Responsibilities
Engage in scholarly activities to stay current in the discipline; participate in curriculum and course assessment, undergraduate academic advising, and perform academic reviews; participate in campus, university, and professional service activities, and outreach to the community.

Interested candidates must submit an online application at Penn State’s Job Posting Board, and should submit a letter of application establishing their qualifications in both teaching and tutoring, a current curriculum vitae, a description of teaching philosophy and tutoring philosophy, evidence of teaching and tutoring effectiveness, transcripts (official transcripts required at the time of an interview), and at least three letters of reference. Two of the letters of reference should specifically address the applicant’s teaching and/or tutoring.
