Tutor Module 8: Chemistry (West)

About the Role
The Chemistry Tutor works directly with students, either one-on-one or in small group sessions, aiming to foster independent learning and help students achieve their academic goals.
Topics covered include atomic structure, periodic trends, thermochemistry, acid-base reactions, chemical equilibria, and related concepts from courses such as:
- Intro to Inorganic Chemistry
- Intro to Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry
- General Chemistry
Responsibilities
- Provides one-on-one and small group tutoring support.
- Offers subject-specific content strategies tailored to different learning styles and preferences to help students understand key concepts.
- Assists students in the use of equipment and learning materials needed for success.
- Conducts “class visits” and assists with publicizing the College’s tutoring services.
- Maintains accurate records in accordance with stated deadlines.
- Completes all necessary paperwork accurately and according to deadlines.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Education consistent with department needs.
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field of study.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Pay
$18.03 per hour.
