About the Role

The Information Technology (IT) Tutor works directly with students, either one-on-one or in small group sessions, aiming to foster independent learning and help students achieve their academic goals.

Topics covered include:

  • C family programming languages (Java, C++, Perl)
  • Basic programming algorithm structures
  • Data types, syntax, and program development
  • Execution of Microsoft and major platforms

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one and small group tutoring support
  • Offers subject-specific content strategies tailored to different learning styles and preferences
  • Assists students in the use of equipment and learning materials
  • Conducts “class visits” and assists with publicizing the College’s tutoring services
  • Maintains accurate records and completes necessary paperwork by stated deadlines
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience/Training: Education consistent with department needs and a minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field of study.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a normal, professional office environment with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation
  • Typically involves sitting comfortably to perform duties, with repetitive hand/finger motions using a computer mouse and keyboard
  • May require occasional walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, or books
  • May require travel to and attendance at meetings or conferences away from the worksite

Pay

$18.21 per hour
