Position Summary
Assists students, either individually or in small groups, in the review of course material, solving problems and preparing for tests.
Responsibilities
- Assists students in reviewing course material and problem-solving.
- Contributes to a supportive, cordial learning environment.
- Coordinates and/or conducts workshops and study groups for students.
- Conducts marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
- Serves as a communication link and faculty liaison.
- Guides students in selecting and using material to meet learning needs.
- Maintains a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments.
- Maintains instructional materials (e.g., textbooks, calculators, software, etc.).
- Collects and analyzes data.
- Participates in required tutor training.
- Provides supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor as delegated and assists TLC Management with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring, and retaining new peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Complies with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wears personal protective gear if required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of thirty (30) hours of postsecondary course work to include a minimum of nine (9) hours in mathematics and/or statistics; mathematics and statistics courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.
Qualifications
- Experience working with adult learners.
- Experience tutoring or teaching Statistics.
- Experience tutoring or teaching Physics and/or Chemistry.
- Fluent in Spanish, especially including mathematical and scientific vocabulary.
Pay
$18.22 - $22.79 per hour
