Previous experience with large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required. About the Role

Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned turf equipment. The position may require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Location Manager, Shop Foreman, or senior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on turf equipment
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for skills and knowledge development
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Accounts for all time on a time card and for all material used in performing assigned duties

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in equipment repair
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use job-related applications
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen prior to employment
  • Forklift license preferred or ability to obtain one

Working Environment

  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold) and walking on uneven terrain; exposure to insects
  • Regular exposure to toxic/caustic/hazardous/volatile chemicals, extreme temperatures, sharp hazards, dust/fumes/gases, electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, and high-pitched or constant loud noise
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required, including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform
  • Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings
  • Required to rotate on-call responsibilities for up to a week at a time

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and walk on unpaved terrain
  • Good manual dexterity, including use of hands and fingers to operate tools, computers, and telephones
  • Ability to talk, hear alarms/telephones, and normal speaking voice
  • Frequent climbing of ladders, stairs, steps, and traversing catwalk grating
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and kneeling; working in confined spaces
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent moving, positioning, and carrying of loads up to 5 pounds upstairs and loading on four-foot-high surfaces
  • Strenuous physical work involving heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally
