About the role

Join the Johnson Controls team as a Tube Fitter Apprentice at our San Antonio, TX plant. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing essential skills in tubing installation and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Bend, form, and install all tubing on units.
  • Perform tubing layout of units according to blueprints in shop packets.
  • Identify and install valves and/or devices on units.
  • Apply basic knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
  • Participate actively in a Continuous Improvement Team.
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Complete understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) on electrical drawings.
  • Ability to use hand tools, electrical equipment, and measuring tape.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally, stand constantly, walk frequently, bend frequently, climb frequently, crawl occasionally, reach frequently, grasp frequently, sit occasionally, connect components frequently, pull frequently, read prints frequently, and exercise judgment frequently.
  • Must understand and follow safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dirt, dust, indoor/outdoor temperature variations.
  • Job hazards include working around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Frequent use of tape measure, small hand tools, power tools, and drills.

Pay

$17.00/hour plus a 2nd shift premium.

Schedule

2nd Shift: Monday–Saturday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM.
