About the role
The Golf Course Assistant will assist in the day-to-day activities of the golf course, food and beverage operations, merchandise operations, and general maintenance of the course and facilities to ensure a superior experience for guests. The role follows Authority operational policies and procedures to promote efficiency, quality of service, and a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Greets and directs customers, answers telephone, makes golf tee time reservations, and provides information on merchandise, memberships, cart sales, green fees, rentals, food, beverages, and alcoholic beverages.
- Promotes tournaments, specials, fundraisers, and other golf course events.
- Operates a cash register, makes change, balances the register, reports inconsistencies, prepares daily bank deposits, and reconciles the cash drawer.
- Patrols the course, directs players, ensures proper pace of play, enforces course rules, counts and documents rounds of golf played, and submits findings.
- Takes, prepares, mixes, and serves food, beverage, and alcoholic beverage orders in compliance with age requirement laws.
- Ensures food, beverage, and alcoholic beverage preparation and serving areas are clean and maintained according to regulations.
- Inspects the pro shop, carts, cart room, barn, clubhouse, and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness, proper working order, and public presentation.
- Opens and secures the shop, barn, and clubhouse, including setting and disarming alarms.
- Conducts regular inspections to identify and resolve safety hazards, maintenance needs, and discrepancies in course conditions, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
- Monitors sales activities and inventory, including daily, monthly, and quarterly inventory control, replenishment, and vehicle loading.
- Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, waxing, dusting, arranging furniture, emptying wastebaskets, and maintaining golf cart cleanliness.
- Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance on golf carts, including checking batteries, cables, tires, and wheel bearings.
- Operates range ball picker, cleaner, and dispenser as needed.
- Refills sand buckets on golf carts and ensures proper green repair tools are available.
- Uses a computer terminal to enter and retrieve information and prepare reports.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of laws governing the sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to work irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with adjustments as needed.
- Ability to interact professionally with employees, clients, the public, and vendors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
- Ability to operate a cash register, make change, balance receipts, and conduct credit card transactions.
- Knowledge of golf, including fees, tee time scheduling, policies, procedures, and security.
- Knowledge of short-order food preparation, beverage and alcoholic beverage service, and food handling and storage procedures.
- Knowledge of public relations and recreational programs promoting golf.
- Knowledge of health standards, sanitation practices, and customer service techniques.
- Ability to use computers and related software.
- Ability to drive a golf cart and perform minor vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to perform minor mathematical calculations.
- Ability to answer phones, provide directions, and communicate pricing and selection information.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
Qualifications
- Completion of ninth grade.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
