Trust and Estate Tax Manager

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review the preparation of Gift, Estate, and Trust tax returns.
  • Oversee federal and state quarterly estimated tax payment preparation.
  • Develop and manage tax planning strategies for trusts and individual income tax matters.
  • Research and analyze complex estate, gift, and trust-related tax issues and provide technical recommendations.
  • Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion.
  • Review tax deliverables to ensure they are clear, concise, thorough, and of professional quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions for complex tax matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while demonstrating knowledge of client industries and financial needs.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and feedback to staff and interns.
  • Conduct technical training and participate in professional development and mentorship programs.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective engagement management and exceptional client service.
  • Remain dedicated to meeting and exceeding client expectations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10+ years of recent experience in public accounting with a national, large regional, or technically proficient local accounting firm.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in Gift, Estate, and Trust tax compliance and planning.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations related to trusts, estates, gifts, and individual taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax engagements and lead client relationships.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service focus.
  • Advanced computer skills; experience with ProSystem Tax and Engagement is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
