Trust & Estate Tax Manager
The Trust & Estate Tax Manager will play a key role in supporting complex tax engagements for trusts, estates, gifts, and high-net-worth individuals. This position offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, client advisory skills, and leadership responsibilities within a collaborative professional services environment.
Accountabilities
Oversee complex tax engagements, provide technical guidance, and deliver high-quality advisory services to clients while supporting the continued growth of the trust and estate practice.
Review complex trust, estate, gift, and high-net-worth individual tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.
Provide advanced technical assistance, tax planning recommendations, and research support on complex tax issues.
Manage client relationships by addressing questions, identifying planning opportunities, and delivering clear tax guidance.
Prepare and review complex tax filings related to trusts, estates, gifts, and individual taxation as needed.
Conduct technical research and develop accurate, practical solutions for challenging tax matters.
Serve as a trusted advisor and technical resource for assigned client relationships with appropriate oversight.
Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior team members through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
Manage engagement performance, including budgets, billing, collections, project timelines, and risk management.
Collaborate with partners and colleagues to support client success and practice growth.
Contribute to improving processes, strengthening technical capabilities, and expanding specialized tax services.
Requirements
An experienced tax professional with strong trust and estate expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex client engagements.
5+ years of recent public accounting experience focused on trust and estate taxation.
Demonstrated experience with trust, estate, and gift tax matters.
Ability to review and analyze high-net-worth individual tax returns.
Licensed CPA or JD required.
Strong technical research, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the confidence to advise clients directly.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex engagements and deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with partners, clients, and internal teams.
