About the role
Trusses are the structural components that support roofs and floors in residential home buildings. You will be responsible for building these components. To begin each day, you will complete a start-up checklist to make sure all the equipment in your area is ready for building. A computer at your workstation will provide you with all the information you need to build the truss.
Responsibilities
- Set up a framework on the building table based on the design
- Place each piece of lumber in the appropriate position and join them with metal plates
- Use a large roller to flatten the plates and merge them with the lumber
- Perform a quality check to ensure there are no mistakes
Requirements
- Experience in manufacturing is preferred
- Experience in the use of a variety of tools
- Ability to do repetitious work at a fast pace while standing for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a team environment
- General carpentry skills are desired
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds without assistance
- Prior experience with truss assembly or general construction work is preferred
- Proficiency in accurately reading and interpreting tape measures
- Ability to safely and effectively use a hammer
