Pay

  • $905 average per week
  • Hourly Pay: $25.61 per hour + $6.16 Health & Welfare Stipend
  • 28 hours per week average
  • Paid training

Schedule

  • Monday - Saturday
  • Start Time: 3:00 AM - 5:00 AM Dispatch

About the role

  • Deliver solo within a 150-mile radius of Flint, MI
  • Local route with home daily
  • Tractor Type: Box Trucks & Sprinter Vans
  • Trailer Type: Dry Van 16'-26'
  • Equipment: Rolling Carts
  • Freight: Touch – US Mail
  • Ryder provides training on all equipment needed to be successful
  • Operate well-maintained, safe trucks (36 months or newer) with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience in like equipment (straight truck or box truck) within the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

In addition to Ryder employment requirements, the United States Postal Service (USPS) requires:

  • A secondary background screen (Federal Level 2) conducted by the USPS to allow access to premises and/or to provide contractual services
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption
  • Responsibilities

    • Safely drive a vehicle within compliance of safety regulations, continuous training, and customer service
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
    • Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards
    • Maintain accurate records
    • Load/unload freight or assist in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
    • Other tasks as assigned
