About the role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, while also serving as the face of our company and building lasting customer relationships.

The CDL-A Driver operates a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes—local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop—to deliver and unload food and food-related products safely and on schedule, in full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, answering questions accurately and promptly.
• Perform all required pre- and post-trip safety checks and inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report any safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route and schedule.
• Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas, and perform damage-control checks.
• Scan items, contact supervisor about removing damaged orders, and verify delivery with customer signatures.
• Collect payment (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
• Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always appropriately locked and secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and perform general housekeeping duties.
• Complete daily record of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
• Secure all equipment and complete all necessary end-of-shift paperwork.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A license.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Possess or be able to secure a valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–90 pounds throughout the shift.

Pay

Drivers average $346 per day, with top performers earning over $100,000 annually. Average annual compensation: $90,000.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, no overnights or weekends. Drivers average 10–12 hours per day, with start and end times varying.
