About the role

Wilsonart in Cincinnati has an opening for a Truck Driver I. This person conducts assigned deliveries and loads and unloads trucks in the assigned department/location. Performs other tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and documents truck equipment and supplies
  • Follows route/map of all accounts assigned
  • "Dispatcher" keeping constant communication with drivers on the road
  • Reviews all paperwork before trucks leave (verifying CODs, documenting arrival & departure times, etc.)
  • Post trip reporting of truck and equipment, documents returns, ensuring proper paperwork is completed
  • Ensures DOT compliance
  • Drives truck to destinations and returns safely
  • Prepares and maintains required documentation
  • Maintains truck e-log according to state, federal, and company regulations
  • Maintains acceptable driving record
  • Assists the needs of the customer as deemed necessary
  • Assists in the distribution center as necessary or directed
  • Performs other tasks as required

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's license
  • Hazardous material endorsement and Tanker Endorsement
  • 1+ years 18-wheeler experience
  • No chargeable accidents or citations in five years

Skills & knowledge

  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation and state regulations and local laws pertaining to vehicle operations
  • Knowledge of truck hauling procedures
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste materials and safe handling procedures
  • Skill in operating lift trucks
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other rules/regulations governing work activities

Physical demands

Performing tasks with team members which includes lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs. Continuous physical exertion such as walking and standing throughout the day is also required.

Environment

Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.

Cell phone policy

CDL drivers must comply with all FMCSA regulations and are strictly prohibited from using a mobile device while driving. We have a zero-tolerance policy.
