Truck Driver I

What You Will Do

• Perform duties related to the operation of haul trucks to transport materials from loading areas to processing areas at a skilled level.
• Understand changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards.
• Perform inspections to maximize equipment and tire life.
• Execute assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio.
• Assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators.
• Operate other heavy equipment such as water trucks, motor graders, and track and rubber tire dozers.
• Know and execute procedures including: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident handling.
• Have knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake.
• Perform tasks such as spotting at shovel, loading, traveling, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher.
• Have operational knowledge of equipment components such as: engine, transmission, planetary final drives, main drive line, nose cone assembly, torque converter, differential, and wet disc braking system.
• Perform and assist with operations support activities such as, housekeeping, barricading, cable moves, and ground support activities.
• Perform minor maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Six (6) months of mobile equipment operating experience.
• Completed academic and practical competencies required (Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists).
• Experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
• The ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment where required.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Six (6) or more months of experience operating Haul Trucks.
