Triage Specialist

About the role
We are looking for a highly capable Triage Specialist to join our team in Omaha (6:00am – 3:00pm CT with an hour meal break). The position is also available in Richmond, VA or Albany, NY. This role involves setting up and assigning new claims as customers report them, with opportunities to move into Claims Trainee positions for career growth in the insurance industry.
We are enhancing our data capture capabilities to improve operational efficiency and governance, and plan to implement a Large Language Model (LLM) to transform the Triage Team’s workflow. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with experience or interest in hands-on AI implementation to modernize operations.
This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support to claims adjusters to facilitate timely and accurate intake and assignment of mostly workers’ compensation claims.
- Update new and existing claims in the claims database and contact brokers as needed.
- Screen incoming phone calls, assess, and assign to the proper party.
- Prepare written correspondence, print backup documentation/invoices, and mail checks.
- Perform electronic and paper filing as needed.
- Determine coverage and adjuster assignment.
- Investigate claims by calling the claimant, insured, and processing mail while prioritizing workload.
- Gather technical information by ordering reports and contacting police departments for vehicle/equipment recovery.
- Handle telephone calls from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.).
- Demonstrate a passion for strong claim management.
Requirements
- One year of insurance experience (required).
- General knowledge of commercial insurance.
- High school diploma (or equivalent) and 3 years’ prior relevant work experience; or vocational/technical education with at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Guidewire and/or ClaimsCenter is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience creating structured and clear prompts for Large Language Models (LLM) is preferred but not required.
- Fluency in English (reading and writing) is required; fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, particularly over the telephone.
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong sense of accountability and pride in producing excellent work.
- Eagerness to learn the Triage claims function with the intent of becoming a Claims Adjuster.
- Active listening, proactive communication, and collaboration skills.

Pay
- Richmond, VA: $24.32 – $28.00 per hour ($50,592 – $58,242 annualized).
- Albany, NY: $29.29 – $30.80 per hour ($55,386 – $64,056 annualized).
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, as well as a generous benefits package.
