Tree Nursery Aide (Interim) (Non Merit)
Pay: $17.07 hourly
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, less than 9 months maximum, eligible for overtime pay

About the role
The Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet (EEC) improves the quality of life for all Kentuckians by protecting land, air, and water resources while utilizing natural resources in an environmentally conscientious manner. By joining the Division of Forestry, Forest Management Branch, Nursery Section as an Interim Tree Nursery Aide in Morgan County, you will support nursery operations and assist in ensuring the integrity and consistency of the nursery's tree seedlings.
Responsibilities
- Assist nursery personnel with daily monitoring of nursery conditions, activities, and performance.
- Prepare beds for seeding and cover beds with mulch.
- Collect, extract, and process various types of seed.
- Maintain beds by weeding, irrigating, and fertilizing to promote seedling growth.
- Lift, pack, and ship bare root tree seedlings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of agriculture, horticulture, tree care, or farm operations experience.
- Additional education or training in agriculture, horticulture, tree care, forestry, or farm operations may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Skills

Work is typically performed in a tree nursery setting.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
