Job Summary

Xylem seeks to hire a Traveling Field Service Technician to lead, coordinate, and complete startup, service, and contract activities for Xylem products. The Technician will act as a trusted adviser and resource for customers, ensuring exceptional brand relationships and compliance with environmental, safety, and health policies.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks from installation, startup, functional & performance testing, training, project closeout, warranty transition, service, and aftermarket contracts.
  • Handle PLC software modification as needed.
  • Identify and manage service requirements and site resources to complete activities on time.
  • Manage other suppliers or Xylem resources as needed.
  • Conduct Total Care equipment condition audits to establish service opportunities and potential actions to reduce customer equipment downtime.
  • Work with customer representatives to understand equipment issues, troubleshoot, diagnose root cause problems, and arrange necessary parts and service to resolve issues.
  • Show timeliness, commitment to customers, and a driving sense of urgency.
  • Collaborate and manage customer communications with appropriate Xylem internal teams for timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Review specifications, designs, and scopes of supply for assigned projects to have a clear understanding of requirements and streamline onsite service completion.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Xylem’s footprint in customer facilities across sister brands and competitor installations, communicating these opportunities to both the customer and other Xylem groups.
  • Prepare, organize, and perform on-site training related to equipment operation, safety, and preventative maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit weekly activity reports and other associated documentation.
  • Identify modifications to existing product/project documentation and communicate to customers and Xylem project teams for review and approval.
  • Monitor and manage site hours to remain within budget.
  • Ensure all equipment on site works according to safety and quality requirements and company/project specifications.
  • Follow and comply with all Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) policies.
  • Participate in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience with ozone oxidation process equipment in municipal or industrial water/wastewater fields (plus).
  • Ability to read and understand Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P & ID diagrams).
  • Training and repair service experience in instrumentation (flow meters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, Dew-point analyzers, etc.).
  • Experience with electrical equipment for low & medium voltage power distribution panels, conduits, and cable trays, grounding, three-phase networks, harmonics, and distortion, IEEE & NEC.
  • Controls & networks for PLC and HMIs for online debugging, network troubleshooting, SCADA interfaces, I/O hardware and software configuration and testing, cross-referencing searches, and code debugging.
  • General knowledge on UL and CSA.
  • Able to conduct training sessions and presentations in front of groups of customer operators, technicians, and maintenance staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong internal & external customer focus and interaction to ensure optimal relationships.
  • Green Belt Certification preferred (or willingness to acquire).

Pay Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $35 to $40 hourly. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location.
