Requirements

Certification and licensure requirements for vascular technologists vary across the United States. States requiring licensure: New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Oregon have enacted legislation mandating licensure for sonographers, including vascular technologists. Some states regulate the practice of radiologic technology and may have specific requirements for vascular technologists; refer to resources from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). Even in states without licensure requirements, obtaining national certification is often preferred by employers.
