Job Title: Step Down Unit Nurse
Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
Shift Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shift start time is 7:00 PM.
Certifications & Qualifications
Must possess current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience & Education
No minimum experience requirement, but candidates should have relevant clinical experience in step down or intermediate care settings.
Patient Care Responsibilities
Management of patients with issues such as chest pain, arrhythmias, and post-procedure care.
Utilization of high-flow respiratory equipment, and ability to read and interpret cardiac strips.
Titration of drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, and Heparin.
Operational Notes
Staff are expected to float as needed into the Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units with ratios up to 1:6 or 1:7 in MedSurg.
Orientation involves initial days with preceptors.
The team operates with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and an in-house 24/7 pharmacy.
Schedule & Floating Requirements
Staff must arrive ready on the unit by 6:45 AM/PM for 12-hour shifts.
Self-scheduling is permitted with unit needs in mind, allowing four requested days off per month.
Night shifts are scheduled as part of a 4-week rotation, including weekend work.
Night shift needs to work four weekend night shifts per schedule cycle.

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
