About the role

Step Down Unit Nurse in Indianapolis providing care for a surgical patient population with extensive experience in telemetry. The role requires expertise in managing complex post-operative cases including post open heart surgery, heart transplants, LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), leg bypass procedures, rib resections, and pneumonectomy. Candidates must be proficient in telemetry monitoring and caring for critically ill patients in a high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for surgical patient population in a step-down unit
• Manage complex post-operative cases including post open heart surgery, heart transplants, LVAD, leg bypass procedures, rib resections, and pneumonectomy
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data
• Deliver high-acuity care to critically ill patients

Requirements

• Valid nursing license
• 1 year of nursing experience in a telemetry or step-down setting
• Experience with surgical patient populations including post open heart and transplant cases
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring
• Willingness to work days shift, 12-hour shifts

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Experience with LVAD management
• Complex post-surgical care experience
• Critical care certifications such as AHA BLS or ACLS

Schedule

• Days shift
• 12-hour shifts
• Minimum 36 hours per week
