About the role

The position involves providing specialized instruction to students with severe disabilities within a school setting. The teacher will collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

Responsibilities

  • Teach academic subjects tailored to the needs of students with severe disabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists and social workers, to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or related field.
  • State special education teaching certification.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with severe disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Knowledge of special education methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Proficiency in using assistive technology.
