Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job

Travel assignment starting 09/21/2026 for 16–26 weeks in a 341-bed hospital with a PCU unit and telemetry.

Schedule

  • 3x12-hour Night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
  • No guaranteed hours
  • Float to appropriate units as needed

Pay

Weekly pay: $2,610–$2,740 per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct bedside nursing care for adult PCU patients, including telemetry monitoring and acute cardiac care
  • Manage IV access and therapies, including insulin drips and cardiac drips, and perform starting IVs as needed
  • Monitor hemodynamics, interpret telemetry, respond to changes in patient status, and escalate to the charge nurse or physician as required
  • Administer medications per protocol and document care in EPIC; support MA/MAK workflows for medication administration
  • Collaborate with the float/Resource Float team, unit staff, and discharge planning; communicate clearly with patients and families
  • Perform unit-specific procedures such as insulin drips, post-cardiac cath care, and other protocols while adhering to ACLS/BLS standards and relevant policies
  • Maintain 3:1 patient ratio and participate in handoffs and shift reports

Requirements

  • Current New York RN license or evidence of application with applied date (NY licensing may take 6–8 weeks)
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required prior to start
  • Experience: minimum 1 year of total clinical experience and 1 year in the specialty (PCU/telemetry); tele/acute inpatient experience strongly preferred
  • Documentation: Epic experience within the past 2 years; familiarity with MAK medication system
  • Skills: ability to work a night shift in an acute inpatient setting, float to other units, and manage insulin and cardiac drips; competent in starting IVs and performing EKGs
  • Patient population: adult; patient care environment requires high vigilance for cardiac and hemodynamic instability
  • Reliable transportation to and from a 24/7 care setting; ability to comply with unit policies including rotation and weekend/holiday coverage

Orientation & Credentialing

  • 1–2 days of orientation
  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions on Mondays
  • Epic experience within the past 2 years required
  • NIHSS required prior to start
  • Credentialing and onboarding support, including Epic training as needed
