About the role

This is a hospital-based, travel temporary assignment supporting adult medical patients on a step-down unit requiring close monitoring and coordinated care in a high-acuity setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on a medical step-down unit, including sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, and chronic kidney disease
  • Monitor vitals, assess patient status, interpret lab results, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and support ongoing diagnostic testing
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; perform and document progress notes; participate in rounds
  • Respond to clinical changes, escalate to the physician or intensivist as needed, and execute interventions per standing protocols to stabilize patients
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort through accurate documentation, medication reconciliation, infection control, and high-quality handoffs at shift change
  • Provide patient and family education, coordinate with case management for discharge planning, and support continuity of care across transitions

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in medical step-down or a related acute care setting
  • ACLS and BLS certifications are required
  • Ability to work night shifts and function effectively in a hospital-based clinical environment

Skills

  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and documentation abilities
  • Proficient in collaborating with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff

Pay

Weekly pay ranges from $1,587 to $1,729 per week with guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Schedule

Night shift, 2x3 schedule.
