Responsibilities
Deliver coordinated perioperative nursing care for a patient or group of patients according to established standards and the nursing process
Assess patient data and develop an individualized perioperative plan of care; implement the plan and coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia, and other disciplines
Monitor patient status intraoperatively, ensuring sterile technique, patient safety, and infection control throughout the procedure
Delegate appropriately and supervise various levels of nursing staff; collaborate with the treatment team to promote a safe, healing environment
Participate in discharge planning and provide patient/family education and learning opportunities for care continuity after surgery
Document care activities and patient progress in the medical record; support backfill needs with EPIC and Cerner systems as applicable
Requirements
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California required)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification from an approved vendor
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in acute care or perioperative nursing
- EMR: Experience with EPIC and Cerner systems is required
