Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Tele Job

Start date: 08/20/2026 for a 5-week contract travel assignment in Burlington, Vermont. Weekly pay range $2,173 to $2,232 with mileage-based pay tiers (Travel, Radius, Local).

About the role

Registered Nurse position on a medical-surgical telemetry unit with a neurosurgical/surgical focus in a hospital setting. Shift is 3x12-hour days, including every other weekend; no block scheduling. Prior travel experience, large teaching facility experience, and strong Epic proficiency are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adults on a medical-surgical telemetry unit with neurosurgical/surgical needs
• Monitor telemetry, assess patient status, implement care plans, administer medications, and document in Epic EMR in a timely manner
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and communicate changes in patient condition to physicians and family members
• Perform and document NIH Stroke Scale assessments, monitor for stroke symptoms, and respond to neurovascular changes
• Support discharge planning and patient/family education, including post-acute care instructions and follow-up planning
• Ensure adherence to unit policies, infection control practices, and safety standards; maintain appropriate staffing presence

Requirements

• Active registered nurse license in Vermont (or eligibility per scope of practice)
• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical unit experience
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), ACLS, and BLS certifications (NIHSS must be completed prior to start)
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
• Prior travel nursing experience; large teaching facility experience preferred
• Ability to work 3x12-hour day shifts, including every other weekend
• Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and reliable transportation for local/mileage-based assignments
