Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for emergency department patients using established standards and the nursing process
- Collect relevant data, assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate to address patient needs
- Develop and implement care plans, coordinate with the healthcare team, and promote a safe, healing environment
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitor patient status, and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Provide patient and family education, participate in discharge planning, and ensure continuity of care
- Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties among nursing staff; participate in interdepartmental collaboration as needed
- Document care and orders in the electronic health record, and support backfill activities related to EHR systems (EPIC and Cerner)
Requirements
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CPR; ACLS and PALS per American Heart Association/ARC requirements (ACLS/ARC-ALS and PALS/ARC-PALS required)
- Experience: At least two years of recent ER/acute care nursing experience
- Education: BSN preferred
- Additional: Must have EPIC and Cerner experience for backfill; ability to work in an ER setting; eligible for day shift schedule (7:00 AM–7:00 PM)
