Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment in San Francisco, California. The position offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and support from a dedicated clinical team.

Requirements

• One year of recent experience as a Pathology Assistant
• Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
• National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Qualifications

• Summary: Supports pathologists in the preparation, examination, and dissection of tissue specimens for diagnosis. Assists in autopsies, surgical pathology procedures, and laboratory operations, ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of specimens.
• Essential Work Functions: Perform examination and dissection of specimens, ensuring proper documentation and processing; describe and sections specimens, apply appropriate fixation and processing techniques for microscopic evaluation; photograph and document specimens, lesions, and tissue abnormalities for clinical and educational purposes; ensure proper labeling, accessioning, and tracking of all specimens to maintain accurate patient records; operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards; implement time management skills to optimize workflow and turnaround times; adhere to quality control procedures to ensure accuracy in specimen handling and documentation; assist with proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite; perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice; adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.

• Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
• Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
• Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
• Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
• Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
