About the role
Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing opportunity at a healthcare organization in Hawaii. The position involves caring for patients in pre‑operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery, with a focus on post‑surgical patient monitoring and critical care.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients in pre‑operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery.
- Monitor post‑surgical patients, assess incision sites, and track vital signs.
- Identify signs of stability or complications, applying advanced knowledge of anesthesiology.
- Utilize equipment such as Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair Paws Warmers, HP monitors, and Phillips monitors.
Requirements
- Valid professional RN license in Hawaii.
- BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a critical‑care registered nurse (e.g., ER or ICU).
- Ability to arrive at the assignment location by the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment.
- Proof of flu vaccination or documented medical/religious exemption.
- Experience with Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair Paws Warmers, HP monitors, and Phillips monitors.
Additional Information
Candidates must have Hawaii state licensure by the start of the assignment. Previous critical‑care or surgical nursing experience is preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required for specific positions. Specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred or required depending on the role. Position urgency is normal.
Schedule
Rotating 8‑hour shifts with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays. No guarantee of hours or shift preference.
Pay
Pay package is based on 8‑hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
