Unit Information

Location: Mission Hospital, 509 Biltmore Ave, Asheville, NC 28801 – 3rd Floor, Building C

• Number of Beds – Pre‑OP: 8, PACU: 6, Procedure Rooms: 4
• Staffing – Variable based on case volumes, range 12‑16
• Day Shift hours: 06:00‑18:00
• Night/Call Shift start: 17:00 or 18:00 (dependent on FTE status)
• Patient ratios – Variable
• Equipment – Olympus Scopes, ERBE, Medivator, ION, Boston Scientific, Cook
• EMR – Cerner

Typical Hiring Profile

• Must have: BLS, ACLS, PALS, active NC or compact state nursing license
• Preferred: Pediatric endoscopy experience, pulmonary endoscopy experience, endoscopy tech experience

Typical Procedures Performed

• Adult: EGD, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP, EBUS, bronchoscopy, ION navigational bronchoscopy, esophageal/duodenal/colonic/axios stent placements, PEG placement, tracheostomy placement, pulmonary cryo therapy, capsule endoscopy, foreign body removal
• Pediatric: EGD, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy (ages <1 – 18)

Schedule Details

• Four 9‑hour day shifts scheduled Monday‑Friday (pre‑op 06:30‑16:00 or 07:00‑16:30; PACU 08:00‑17:30 or 08:30‑18:00; procedure 07:30‑17:00)
• One overnight call shift per week (call starts after your 9‑hour shift and continues until 07:00; if not on call day, call begins at 17:00)
• Two weekend call shifts during a 6‑week period (07:00‑07:00, may be two Saturdays, two Sundays, or one of each)

Dress Code

Green surgical scrubs provided; navy blue scrubs are also acceptable.
