Job Summary

The Hawaii-based Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse position is a critical role within the healthcare organization, supporting patient recovery following surgical procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position involves caring for patients during pre-operative, phase I, and phase II recovery, with a focus on post-anesthesia stabilization. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced critical care skills, including assessment of incision sites, monitoring of body temperature, and tracking other indicators of patient stability.

Job Details

  • Location: HILO, Hawaii

  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, varying between days, evenings, and nights; schedule may include weekends and holidays

  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Required Qualifications

  • Valid professional license within the state of practice (Hawaii License)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications from the American Heart Association

  • 0 years experience minimum

  • Covid-19 vaccination (flu vaccine required)

  • Able to arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association

  • Other specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required for certain roles

  • Prior critical care (ER & ICU) experience or 2+ years hospital critical care RN experience may be accepted as a substitute for PACU experience

Additional Information

  • On-call shifts 0-3 times per month, including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekends/holidays

  • Candidates must be available to start on 07/27/2026 and attend the scheduled health appointment on the Friday prior to start

  • Do not accept the start date if unable to attend on time

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
