Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,543 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Charleston, West Virginia. The assignment is for 13 weeks, 40 hours per week on 8‑hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians; teach patients and families medication and home‑care management.
• Additional duties for circulating OR nurses: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; accurately handle and care for specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for scrub OR nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN first assistant: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience (additional certifications may be required before assignment).
