Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,390 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a 13-week assignment in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position offers 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, and a variety of roles including circulating, scrub, and RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to the patient
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication
• Monitor and observe the patient during surgery
• Respond to potential complications alongside the physician
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician
• Teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs
• Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient
• Accurate care and handling of specimens
• Maintain inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• 2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Pay

The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
