Job Summary

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nursing Float Pool position in the Chicago metropolitan area. This role involves providing specialized care to neonatal patients in a dynamic environment spanning two campuses. The selected candidate will be adaptable to float across units and locations, supporting a team dedicated to delivering exemplary neonatal care.

Schedule

Schedule: Night shifts, with shifts starting at 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week, on a 6-week cycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Illinois Nursing License
  • BLS, NRP
  • At least 2 years of NICU experience in Level III or IV NICU settings
  • Skills including trach management, vents, chest tubes, Foley placements, surgical drains, arterial lines, CVL, blood draws, IV starts, CPAP, high flow, oscillator/jet ventilator, central lines, dressing changes, heliox, nitric respiratory support, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with above patient types is required; approval from management needed if candidate does not have cardiac patient experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a NICU with private rooms and pods
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Support equipment including Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Med-Sonic monitors

Float Rotation

Float rotation may be required across both campuses in Oak Lawn and Park Ridge, supporting NICU, neonatal, and appropriate infant assignments.

NICU Orientation

NICU orientation with at least one nurse on shift per campus.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Premature, neuro, GI, feeder/grower, respiratory, congenital anomalies, hematology/oncology, post-op, trauma, cardiac conditions including TAPVR, COA, valve replacements, ASD, VSD, CHD, HLHS, post-cath, heart failure.

Patient Ratios

NICU 1:2-3 depending on acuity.

Pay Package

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
