The role involves providing acute care nursing services on a unit specializing in cardiac and telemetry patients. It is suited for nurses seeking a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, nights
• Minimum of 36 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Provide acute care nursing services for cardiac and telemetry patients
• Manage patients with common diagnoses including cardiac conditions, post-catheterization, acute myocardial infarction (AMI), post-operative lung surgeries, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
• Stabilize and monitor patients as needed
• Titrate drips including heparin, insulin, and nitro
• Float to MedSurg units as needed
• Read and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Adhere to designated dress code of royal blue scrubs
• Participate in holiday rotation schedules

Requirements

• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACL)
• Valid nursing licensure
• Relevant nursing degree
• Minimum of 0 years of experience

Nursing Ratios & Assistants

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• CNA-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:12
• Approximately 3 CNAs on days, 2 on nights
• CNA duties include blood sugar checks

Respiratory Equipment & Telemetry

• CPAP and BiPAP only; respiratory treatments managed by RT staff
• Telemetry available on the unit; RNs required to read and interpret strips

Orientation

• Multiple shifts of unit-specific orientation with preceptorship provided

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
