About the role
The Medical Surgical Floor nurse position is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced Med Surg setting. The position requires adherence to specific clinical protocols and documentation standards, ensuring high-quality patient care across various medical conditions in an acute care setting with a trauma level 3 designation. The unit comprises 24- and 35-bed Med Surg areas, with patient ratios of 1:5-6, and includes Cardiology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, and other medical diagnoses.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients on the Medical Surgical floor.
- Adhere to clinical protocols and documentation standards.
- Float to other units as needed (first to float).
- Work a minimum of 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period, including Saturday and Sunday.
- Complete Healthstream modules prior to orientation.
Requirements
- Valid BLS and ACLS certifications.
- NIHSS certification (or ability to obtain after offer; must be obtained before start date).
- Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg/Tele experience.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system (used within the last year).
- Current RN license to practice.
- One shift can be canceled every 14 days per OSU pay period.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a teaching facility.
- Strong IV skills.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, days.
- 36 hours per week (3x12-hour days).
